Play beer pong…and have your own table

Talk about a ubiquitous post. If you are in college and haven't heard of beer pong, something may be the matter with you. Which is exactly why this belongs here.

It is known by many names, but most commonly Beer pong or Beirut. It may be played with paddles or without, depending on what part of the country you are from. And the rules! There are almost as many variations on the rules as there are colleges! For two of the most common websites for beer pong you can visit beerpong.com or the National Beer Pong League website. Both have rules variations, animations, and various other info. So I will leave that to them. Just make sure you know the rules in any particular house before you being the game….or it can cost you big time, not to mention making a fool out of yourself!

My purpose on this post would be, have your own table.

  • This can be as simple as a single sheet of plywood placed on top of a kitchen table or desk. (You should have seen me trying to bring one back to my place back in the day…..a 8' sheet of plywood on the roof of an '89 Tempo, my brother and I holding on to it out the windows….if only I had a picture)
  • It can be elegant…painted with a theme, varnished, lacquered, reinforced, and having circles stenciled in for the cups. (A pledge in my fraternity made some beautiful tables for our annual tournament back in the day. Actually not that hard)

It really is up to you and how handy you are. The nice thing about the single sheet of plywood is that it is light, not overly expensive, and it can be decorated as your drink yourself into various levels of debauchery….allowing you the opportunity to look back over time and reminisce about various nights and various visitors.

So go get a table. They can fit in almost anywhere. But have a table! Two desks set up 6 feet apart are NOT the same. For beer pong, you need a table….

And don't forget the other college drinking games to be profiled at a later time….Asshole, FlipCup, Quarters, etc.
